Military Heroines

Honoring Servicewomen

Today, I celebrate the sacrifices and service of those women who are part of our military.

When the word “soldiers” is mentioned, what quickly comes to the minds of many is “Men in uniform” (myself inclusive). But, ever since I became a military spouse, I realized that a good percentage of our military is comprised of women. Women who do the same job as the men!.

Hence, this has changed my views on the military being an “all-male affair”(I encourage you to do likewise)…. Look around and don’t forget our SERVICEWOMEN.

The Department of Defence has given everyone who is eligible an opportunity to serve and…..(I think it’s good). I honestly think it’s great that women are given equal opportunities to serve.

However, when issues of women joining the military come up, opinions differ.

Some people with traditional ways of thinking believe women have no place in the military. Such people believe women should be at home raising kids and carrying out other household chores. They believe women shouldn’t aspire to anything greater than just homemakers.

Do you as a person see women as people that can function well in the military?

Women have the best analytical skills and can bring a lot of their instincts to bear in whatever they do.

I, for one, believe that women should not be limited in any way by society but allowed to aspire to be what they can be.

When you look at the home setting, being able to take care of the homefront by juggling kids, household chores, social engagements, and maybe office work shows that women are always battle-ready!

Today, I say a BIG THANK YOU to all the women who serve in the military the world over! I encourage you to do the same.

Because every woman is entitled to a chance in the military but not everyone volunteers to serve!

These women are awesome… They joined to serve their country!

Do you have women in your military?

I believe you do have women in your military.

Let’s support these women, love them and thank them for their service. Many of them changed their traditions and paved the way for other women.

Some of them faced huge resistance and rejection especially those who were raised in families where men went out to work while women do all the jobs at home.

To all our servicewomen…..

Women are said to be the weaker sex but being a woman in a male-dominated career, you have to know you can do anything you set your mind to do especially if you’re motivated and dedicated.

I know you’ve been called many names by folks, friends, and colleagues but today I say, “Hats off to you ladies!”. You’re one in a million!

Thank you for the sacrifices you make for your families and country.

Oh! How can I forget your amazing husbands and partners?

I applaud all men who give support and love to their partners in uniform!
