Getting Kids Thrilled to go Back to School

Thank God for the gift of children and for protecting them throughout the long vacation. May God be with them as they return to various schools and throughout the term. May they not encounter bad influences, and may God be with all the “Mommas and Dadas.” Finally, I pray God provides everything they need to offset their children’s bills; amen.

They have enjoyed playing with family, watching animations and movies, and waking up when they want. You can’t blame kids for their back-to-school anxiety when faced with early starts, early bedtime, and routines again.

Is your child terrified to go back to school?

Back-to-school season is an exciting time for some parents, especially stay-at-home mothers or work-from-home parents. It’s also an exciting time for some kids, but this is a very tough and terrifying season for others.

Listening to 20 minutes of ceaseless crying and you can’t let them stay home or take them back home with you is like…Insanity. I bet you, as a mother, would feel like crying too. Though kids cry harder and longer because they are trying to prove that what they are feeling is real, the fact is they need formal education.

As a parent, you love your child, so you’d immediately want to fix the problem and erase the pain when you see your child hurting.

How to Respond to Back-to-School Anxiety

You can do several things to get your child excited to go back to school.

These are some of the solutions that can work for you.

Show Excitement Yourself

Parents are life coaches. Lead by example and show excitement about the upcoming

term. Don’t make negative statements about resumption, teachers, school, or studies.

Click their Brains into Gear

It’s a great way to help them focus. Whether it’s reading a picture book for the little ones, educational books, or solving a puzzle. There are so many ways in which it could be done.

Buy New Stationery

Treat them to new stationery. It’s a fresh start, a new session, so get them new folders, pencils, rulers, pens, erasers, sharpeners, and pencil cases. Indeed, it will excite them and give them a fresh look.

Get New Clothing

Get new clothing for them, like stockings, undergarments, and a new uniform if the old one is worn out or no longer fit. Try also to get new pair of school shoes, bags, and lunch pack when necessary.

Spice up their Lunch Pack

Spice up their lunch box with healthy and tasty treats, and don’t forget to add a

fruit salad.

Enroll Your Child in Extracurricular Activities

Schools offer so many of these activities. It’s an excellent way to get your child excited about what he will be doing at school. However, remember to seek your child’s opinion. After all, he/she would be the one doing it. But when they have no clue, then go through the options together. In a situation whereby your child is too young to give an opinion, you can make the picking based on the kinds of

activities that interest them.
