6 Ridiculous Truth About My Lifestyle

My Army Wife Life.

I awoke early in the morning with the most exciting thought.

Today is the day I’ll let you into my army wife’s life.

People who have not experienced military life ( but watch a lot of t.v ) view military spouses in a limited way. But there’s always more than meets the eye, and today I wanted to share the ridiculous truth I have come to know about real Army Wife life.

The truth is, they say, “Home is where the heart is.”

But if that’s true, then my home is sometimes on the other side of the world because that’s where my heart is…..in the desert, Sudan, Liberia, Tanzania, South Africa, United Kingdom, USA, Canada,  Europe, Pacific, on the other side in training and of course on the other side of my iPhone screen.

No matter how hard I try, I can never quite get to it! Nevertheless, I do my best to make my house a home for the family and me. I will give everything to make life as fun as it can be for us.

My kids call me Mom.

The truth is, I’m a mom and dad, plumber, carpenter, mechanic, vulcanizer, electrician, chauffeur, teacher, student, homemaker, life coach, accountant, bill-payer, judge, and jury. This is my everyday life. I keep the homefront!

They call me dependent. Hmmm…

The truth is, I’m independent and capable. I can do many things that most people only do with others. I can also do all the household chores, go to work, run my company and keep the kids entertained. I don’t like to ask for help from others except when I need it. They call me dependent, but I’m so much more!

Employers call me one of “those people” who leaves a job every year, the kind no one wants to hire!

But the truth is, I’m qualified and committed, cheerful, and maybe the best worker you’ll ever have.

They call me strong.

But the truth is, I’m also tender, caring, most times lonely, fearful, proud, and tired.

And I can’t wait for help in combat boots and camouflage!

I cry in the shower at first, but then I’ve figured out how to get through it all. I still feel it, but I can get through. That’s one of my superpowers.

They call me strong, but I’m always on my knees every night, praying to the one who holds them in his hands to please keep him safe.

They call me a friend.

But the truth is, my friends are more like family.

We’re all there for each other in one community. We speak the same language. We share our highs and lows. We cry and laugh together. We sit on each other’s couches and plan activities for us to do to pass the time.

The extraordinary military spouses I’ve been blessed to meet have inspired me beyond expectations.

Today, as an army wife, I would like to recognize all the military spouses in all branches. We’re some of the strongest men and women I know!

Thank you for being there for your soldiers!
